Alright, so sometimes a notable thing does happen on a trip to Wal Mart. Not long ago, Josh & I had to go there to find a plunger. After picking the perfect one we headed to the other side of the store for a few other items. Along the way, my son found lots of creative ways to use that plunger. It started with "thocking" our way across the store every yard or so. Now, I know you can imagine what that sounded like because jamming a plunger on a hard linoleum(?) floor has a very universally recognized sound. You did it when you were a kid, your kids have done it and the kids in China probably do it too. It just resonates differently in Wal Mart. In the canned good aisle Josh decided to pull up his shirt and try plunging his stomach. Not only does it make great noises in front of the baked beans it can also get stuck there awhile, making for a very cool appendage to walk around with. Actually, this is why my trips to Wal Mart aren't that exciting anymore because, now that school's back in, I try to go alone.

I would re-enact Joshua's plunger stomach for the sake of a blog picture but we've used it since then. Sorry.

Home Improvements

Do you just love the design on our bedroom wall? I suppose it was missing something in the way of local art and asymmetry -- at least according to Joshua. I think he needs a job on HGTV.

On a sadder note, I finally got my trees and it looks like they're dying. This is not good. You see, I suffer, as many do, with the winter blahs and this was going to be my happy green. The landscaper assures me he will gladly replace them if they do go to tree heaven. I hope so because, as much as I LOVE fall, it never lasts long enough, you know?

You know, its funny, several months back when I was watching all my friends' cute little blogs I thought, "There's no way I could do one of those. What would I blog about? Asking Josh for the 11th time to brush his teeth? Greg's arrival home from work in the evening? Driving in the car to Wal Mart?" We just really aren't very exciting people. That's ok, isn't it? There's blessing in not living life on the autobahn all the time, stroking out over the stresses of having too much to balance, right? If you agree with that then you'll forgive me for my latest stretches between posts. If I had secret camera man I would hire him to take pictures of our long talks with the neighbors while sitting under the trees of our front yards, the frequent walks we take in the mornings and cool evenings we're having, or the snuggle times the three of us have on our Friday night family slumber parties. Life will pick back up again but for now, not too exciting is alright with me.

Kierstin's First Visit

We lured the Thompson's over for football and blueberry pie this last weekend and they brought the best-tasting ribs you've ever had, along with the star of the event -- Kierstin. We had a blast!

She's a cutie and knows just what she wants, let me tell ya.

Josh was busy "bowling" with blocks and a baseball down our long hallway and really didn't want to come be in this picture. Becky played awhile and threw a few gutters for him.

Earlier in the day we were also visited by the lovely Olivia! These two are very captivated with each other. Joshua loves to make her "talk" to him, and boy does she. If he dares look away from the conversation she leans forward and tries to pull him back. Isn't that a girl for you?

6 Random Things

My friend Ashley tagged me to report 6 unspectacularly quirky things about myself to my tens of readers. How fun to narrow down a plethora of unspectacular things to just 6! I am suppose to then tag others to do this on their blogs but I'm like the last person I know to be tagged so if you have not been and you have a blog and you're game -- you are IT.

I started with this random picture just to kick things off the in the right spirit.

Ok, here goes:

1. I compulsively pick fuzzies off of blankets, roll them between my fingers, then drop them on the floor. I don't do it knowingly. It started when I was a baby and I haven't ever been able to stop it. Ask any former roomates about this. To save from vacuuming all the time, I don't keep 'fuzziable' blankets in my house anymore.

2. Popsicles give me the willies. That first lick or bite onto the stick is like scraping your teeth on the street.

3. When I was 13 I once babysat for the baby of a man who had been in a terrible motorcycle accident. He was covered from head to toe with bandages, except for his little eye slats, and he just sat in a chair in the corner of the room the whole time. He never moved, never spoke. It was creepy.

4. Growing up on the beach, my brother and I had a great way to catch live crabs with our bare hands. It's not very nice but we poured wet sand on their eyes and then you just grab them from behind. I'm anxious to see if this still works when go back in a couple of weeks.

5. I regret that I, a): don't know a second language, and, b): don't play the guitar.

6. I really like the Dick Van Dyke show.

So there it is. How about you?

New Friends

I am happy to announce, and many of you will be relieved to know, that I am not entirely friendless anymore. It's been almost a year since we moved here and I now actually have girls that I do lunch and have girls' night out and go to cookouts with (as we did tonight). This is a big deal for me because, as so many of you know, I am SUCH a girlfriend girl! So let me introduce you these great girls. Next to me is Shannon, then Kristen, then Christy. They're faithful Moms and wives, funny, smart and loving Jesus. My kinda buds! Oh, and they like to run too, which I'm happy not to do.
